Charming and Gifted Sophie Marceau

When it comes to being artists, the French would not allow themselves to be left behind by their US equals. Last week, my great friend lent me his newly procured DVD of this French movie entitled "A Ce Soir." When I watched the film, I instantly recognized the charming and gifted actress playing the lead. It was the French belle named Sophie Marceau, whom I'm sure many of you have seen in various Hollywood movies. I swear I never knew she was French because as I have seen her in various of her English-language movies, she speaks impeccable English.

After making a slew of movies in the local French scene and earning the praise of French movie critics and award-giving bodies, Sophie delighted the world when Hollywood A-lister Mel Gibson casted her to play Princess Isabelle for the Oscar-winning epic, "Braveheart." The success of the film catapulted the enchantment and talent of Sophie to Hollywood praise, hence being chosen to play Elektra King, the villainous Bond girl of "The World Is Not Enough," opposite Pierce Brosnan. Sophie's other recognized English-language films include the movie adaptation of the Shakespeare classic "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and the fairy-tale comedy "Alex & Emma." Currently, Sophie is involved in various film productions in her hometown in Paris while being a mother to two pleasing kids.
